Introduction
My name is Laurie Cornett, I am a graduate for the art Institute of Pittsburgh, it is there where I studied Interior Design an earned a degree in Residential Planning. I have had 2 years of study in the industry of Interior Design. Also I have several certificates in Interior Decorating. I have learn a various areas such as: Color Theory, Designing of Kitchen and Baths, Introduction to Interior Design, Space Planning, History of Furniture, Fabrics, Textiles, Introduction to CAD, Drawing 3D Furniture and room planning, and Drafting. Presentations was also expected for us to learn in order to serve the client with an understand of what the total space will look like.
Throughout the training we were expected to be able to determine the different of different styles that clients may like, such as: Contemporary, Traditional, Transitional, Modern, High Tech Style, Country, French Country, Coastal Style, Cottage Style, Southwestern, Victorian, and Mediterranean Style.
We also learned the different styles for kitchens which are: Contemporary, Traditional, Transitional, Modern, Country, Rustic, Arts and Crafts, and the Old World Style. Along with kitchens we learned the different styles for Baths, these are the most popular styles of baths Country Retreat, Clean and Contemporary, and Time-Honored and Traditional.
I was expected to be able to create a space using these styles. It was also expected to be able to mix styles and furniture so the rooms would be functional for the clients needs. My goal is to create beautiful designs for my clients that will be unique and comfortable that will be functional with the lifestyle of the client.
